Global Climate Talk : Conference of Parties (COP)

The talk of COP is roaming around nowadays as the COP27 is approaching near which is happening November 6 in Arab Republic of Egypt seeing this I also got curious to know what is Cop and what will happening in the COP .From my research I found many article related to COP and also got to know that Youth Climate Justice Activist Shreya K.C. dd is organizing an interaction session on COP where she shared about her experience and opinion on COP as she was part of COP 25 as an observer and again she attended in COP 26 as representative of country .

So I am writing this post to let everyone know what really is COP and what happens there from my research and from the session. So here are some of the points that will give you some idea on COP and I have attached some photos from the session and photos supporting my points.

The COP is the supreme decision making body of the convention, as the convention represented in the COP are adopted and discussed by the all the institutional organization and administrative bodies and decisions are made through agreements in the legal structure,
Conference of the Parties has held 14 ordinary meetings, and one extraordinary meeting
COP reviews all the national communications and emissions inventories submitted by Parties, the COP is continues with the progress made by the countries and decide to meet every year to decide and see the progress in the countries and there work to decrease the climate change .The first COP was held on Berlin, Germany in March ,1995,from that its being held every year in different locations so the locations can be shifted according to the host country ,
In the COP there are different activities going on as in one space we have negotiations towards global agreement ,other we will having talk and highlighting in diverse climate change issue and other organizations, leaders will be sharing knowledge on the topics that discussed ,or negotiated,

There are different cards that are given to the attendees according to there category of presence like if they are from organization they will have organization card and likewise party (stands for country) will have party and observer will have observer ,these card gives permission to attend meetings that will be running in the COP ,the party can join every meeting but the organization card carriers and observer will have some limitations,
As said there many other conference for other convention will also discussed and the other convention that will be discussed are the organizational matters, reports from subsidiary bodies, the financial mechanism and the executive secretary .reviewing of the the implementation and work progress of the program of work that was signed in before convention and listing the priority issues and reviewing and guiding the issues to solve it,
The main discussion that will be discussed are Paris agreement which is also called CMA and Kyoto protocol convention is called CMP and discussion on science and technology advice is SBSTA and some other conference will be also happening some which I listed below with there acronyms in the photo below,
In the COP there will be other areas that I have shown in the picture below like there will be negotiation for the implementation ,other side events like press conference so that the parties citizen should what happening and protest by different organization running to implement the laws for the climate changes and gatherings of parties will also happening in the side,
Negotiation -Negotiation is done by the parties after reviewing their agreements that they did before and review the progress and analyze that if the progress is happening or not ,the parties try to negotiate time so that can implement the convention in there country and they also try other legal instrument to make it possible.
How to be part of the COP?
- And to be part of the COP we should one working for the climate justice and should be working related to environmental issues ,they will recommended by the government in Nepal we have Ministry of forest and Environment under which there is Climate Change Management Division who recommends the person for the representative as the costing for the participation high the country like us only can take 1-2 participate and they also have categories according to the country status ,
